If you're looking for an incredibly fresh, inexpensive, culturally rich Lincoln bakery, then take a trip to Pan Dulce / La Panaderia on 801 South 11th Street, across from DaVinci's. As you enter the doors, the scent of fresh baked pastries is intoxicating, and the price is just as appealing. Many of these fresh, tantalizing delicacies are only fifty cents. The assortment ranges from cheesecake to french baguettes stuffed with cream cheese and jalapenos.
According to the owner, "Conchas" are the most popular items. Traditionally served with a glass of milk, these Mexican shell-shaped pastries are sold in Mexican bakeries or Panaderias all throughout the America's. The bread is slightly sweet with a unique checkerboard design on top, making it hard to miss. The other specialties are the simple french baguettes. These are served three for a dollar and made fresh daily.
