One
of mankind’s greatest culinary inventions, in my humble opinion, is ice
cream. What food is tastier, more satisfying and more varied in its
flavorings and forms (sandwiches, sundaes, shakes, waffle cones, banana
splits, sorbets, gelatos, or a scoop in a dish) than ice cream?
However,
not all ice creams are created equal. The best are made from a few
fresh ingredients--typically cream, sugar, fruit or other natural
flavorings (“Philadelphia-style”), and sometimes eggs (“French”).
